What else is involved?
In addition to the website, you will also need web hosting and a domain name to complete the picture. Web hosting involves purchasing storage in cyberspace for the files that make up your website. A domain name will give your website a unique address - usually in the form of www.mybusinessname.co.uk or .com. Along with your website address. a domain name will also provide you with up to five email addresses, eg info@yourbusinessname.co.uk. We can arrange your first years hosting, register your domain name, and get everything up and running for you, at a price you'll find hard to beat.
Depending on what you're most comfortable doing, you can either shop around for hosting and a domain name yourself (for a small, brochure style website these need not be expensive - around £20 - £30 per year for the hosting, and around £5 per year for a domain name, usually purchased two years at a time), or for a small fee we can arrange it for you. If you do arrange your own domain name and hosting, you will need to provide us with your account details to enable us to upload your site for you.
Our packages and prices
We offer two packages - a basic brochure style website of up to four pages, or a larger site of up to eight pages, allowing you to include more in depth information about your business. Our prices are fully inclusive, so if you'd prefer to have a contact form rather than just an email link, or a counter telling you how many visitors your site is getting, then these can be included at no extra cost. We don't include Flash animations however, although the sorts of sites we specialise in have no real need for them - your customers are more interested in finding out about your products and services, not waiting for Flash animations to load!
You can either purchase the website on its own, or with web hosting and domain registration included. If you require a larger website, please contact us for a free no obligation quote. All prices include VAT. A deposit of 50% is required.

Other considerations
Each Handprint web design will incorporate search engine optimisation. This involves embedding key words and phrases in the code which give search engines such as Google a helping hand in finding your site. We will also register it for you with leading search engines, such as Google, Yahoo and Alta Vista. Another factor in helping search engines find your site is to have links to it from other sites. If there are listings sites related to your business, its a good idea to ask them about including a link to your site - a good example of this is toursist board sites with links to the sites of hotels and guest houses
And if you require any minor editorial changes to your site, we will happily make these at no extra cost for the first 12 months.
What next?
If you would like to know more, or would like us to go ahead and create a website for you, then please get in touch. Once you provide us with the content (text, photos, graphics), along with as much info regarding any style and layout preferences, we can create a homepage for you based on this. Once you are happy with this we'll proceed and finish off your site for you.
Any content for the site will be supplied by you - ideally as Microsoft Word files for any text, and as .gif, or .jpg files for any graphics. If you have any questions about what we need, just ask.
If you do decide to go ahead with a website, we would aim to have it up and running in two to four weeks. Whilst the site is under construction, you will be able to view its progress online, and we encourage your feedback so that we can get it looking exactly as you'd like. |
